Workshop in the frame of the project “Safe School, Safe Childhood” and 25th birthday of the Convention on the Rights of the Child

The Public Health Foundation of Georgia, in partnership with Defence for Chldren Intrenational – ECPAT The Netherlands and Children Support Center Lithuania is implementing the project “Safe School, Safe Childhood”, which is financially supported by the European Union. The project supports prevention of and responds to child abuse and neglect through school based child-focused child protection procedures. The project encourages advancement of the collaboration between professionals and sectors so that children, who are victims or at-risk of peer violence in schools, in domestic and other settings will get the final benefit.

Today’s workshop aims at: introducing project goals and objectives to project partners and main stakeholders; presenting on the project progress up to date; receiving recommendations from project partners and group of stakeholders and define possible means of collaboration.

A 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is also marked on November 20. To this end, our partner organization BICE (International Child Catholic Bureau)gave rise to the idea to unite its member and partner organizations and hold a worldwide celebration of CRC’s 25th birthday. The Public Health Foundation of Georgia is organizing this birthday event in Georgia.

The workshop and the 25th anniversary are carried out in one format. Alongside the workshop, a celebration of the birthday event is taking place with children’s participation, which includes birthday cake decoration with child-shaped candy figures and attendance of the performance on “Peter Pan, Dadu the rabbit and wizard”, provided by the Child Birthday center “Dadu’s House”.

Supporters of child participatory event are: confectionary - “Diefenbach”, birthday centre - ‘Dadu’s House”, banner logo designer, child illustrator – Nino Chakvetadze, photographer - Tornike Rikiashvili.
