A second stage training on Child, victim of domestic and sexual abuse – child interviewing and assessment

A second stage training for the staff of Batumi, Zugdidi and Tbilisi “Child and Youth Advocacy Centers” on the subject: “Child, victim of domestic and sexual abuse – child interviewing and assessment”.

EU-funded project – “Advocacy for Child and Youth Protection” pays great importance to the advancement of the knowledge and skills of the staff employed at advocacy centers, so that they are able to provide quality support and services for children, youth in crisis situations and their families. 

 

To this end, a second stage out of multi-stage trainings was held in Batumi on May 17-19. News staff members of all three advocacy centers that are established in the framework of the project in Tbilisi, Zugdidi and Batumi received important knowledge on how to work with children and youth, in particular following themes were explored in-depth: psychological trauma and stress caused by abuse, listen to child-specifics of interacting and interviewing child, victim or witness of abuse, preparing a conclusion for the legal proceedings reflecting the results of child’s psychological examination, etc.

 

 Selected MA students from the psychology and law departments of the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and a lawyer from Samegrelo region, who are cooperating with the Advocacy Centers in the framework of the project, were also present on the training. 

 

Three “Child and Youth Advocacy Centres” are functioning in Tbilisi, Zugdidi and Batumi in the framework of the project “Advocacy for child and Youth protection. The advocacy centres provide services for children and youth victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse, also their family members.

 

The project “Advocacy for Child and Youth Protection” is implemented by the Public Health Foundation of Georgia. Rehabilitation and Development Charity Centre Tanaziari, “Step Forward” and International Child Catholic Bureau (BICE) are project co-applicants, while Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and Child Helpline International perform as project Associate partners.
