Training for psychologist and social workers on child sexual abuse

On April 24-26, 2017, a 21 hour training on “Coordinated Response to Child Sexual Abuse” was conducted in the frame of International Child Catholic Bureau (BICE)’s international program “Fight against Child Sexual Abuse in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Europe-CIS 2015-2017”and the EU- funded project “Advocacy for Child and Youth Protection” for the psychologists and social workers. Training covered very important themes, like: providing therapeutic support to children affected by sexual abuse, multidisciplinary team work in child abuse cases, assessment of child sexual abuse cases for the judicial process, etc. 

Training was organized by the Public Health Foundation of Georgia. It was attended by the staff of Tbilisi, Batumi and Zugdidi Child and Youth Advocacy Centers, heads of the Guardianship, Custody and Social Programs Department of the Social Service Agency (SSA), SSA psychologists from all regional offices of Georgia and psychologists from the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions.

Training was delivered by Martine Nisse, child protection expert, family therapist and founder of the Le Centre des Buttes-Chaumont”.
