Safety Rules
\nThere are important rules to help protect children from harm. These are called safety rules, and following them will help you make the right decisions if you\u2019re ever in a dangerous situation. The rules are as follows:
\n\u2022\tAlways get permission from your parents, teachers, or guardians before going anywhere with others.
\n\u2022\tAvoid unfamiliar streets, buildings, parks, and other places. Don\u2019t go anywhere alone or with friends without letting someone know first.
\n\u2022\tNever agree to meet someone you met online or through your phone. They might not be who they say they are. When home alone, only open the door to family members. Letting others in can be dangerous for you and your family.
\n\u2022\tRemember the rules for touching: only your parents or a trusted adult, like a doctor or teacher, should touch areas of your body covered by your underwear, and only for hygiene or medical reasons.
\nFollow the \u201c7 Don\u2019ts\u201d:
\n1.\tDon\u2019t talk to strangers or let them into your home.
\n2.\tDon\u2019t go into elevators or building entrances with strangers.
\n3.\tDon\u2019t get into a stranger\u2019s car.
\n4.\tDon\u2019t stay outside after school, especially when it\u2019s getting dark.
\n5.\tDon\u2019t share your phone number or address with a stranger.
\n6.\tDon\u2019t meet up with anyone you met online or over the phone.
\n7.\tDon\u2019t accept gifts from strangers.
\nThe word \u201cNo\u201d is powerful and can help you stay safe if you say it firmly and with confidence. For example, if a stranger asks you to go for a walk with them, simply say, \u201cNo!\u201d
\nIf someone you don\u2019t know comes to pick you up from school and your parents haven\u2019t told you about it, say, \u201cNo!\u201d If a stranger asks you to help with directions or carry a bag, still say, \u201cNo!\u201d
\nWhat to Do if an Adult Tries to Persuade You
\nSometimes, adults might ignore your \u201cNo\u201d and try to change your mind, saying things like, \u201cI thought you were grown-up enough, but you still need permission?\u201d In such cases, try to get away from them as soon as possible and tell your parents or another trusted adult about what happened.
\nHow to Say \u201cNo\u201d
\nIf a stranger offers you a gift, here\u2019s how to respond:
\n\u2022\tSay, \u201cNo! I don\u2019t know you! I\u2019m going to tell my mom!\u201d
\n\u2022\tAfter saying \u201cNo!\u201d, leave immediately.
\n\u2022\tTell a trusted adult what happened.
\nRemember! If you don\u2019t want someone to touch you, you can:
\n\u2022\tSay, \u201cNo, stop!\u201d or \u201cI don\u2019t want you to do this.\u201d
\n\u2022\tLeave immediately after saying \u201cNo.\u201d
\n\u2022\tMake sure to tell an adult what
