On Tuesday 24 May at 10:00 a closing conference of EU-funded project “Safe School, Safe Childhood” will take place at the Hotel Courtyard Marriott in Tbilisi. The event will be opened with welcome speeches by Ms Lia Saralidze, Executive Director of the Public Health Foundation of Georgia, Mr. Stephen Stork, Deputy Head of the Operations Section at the EU Delegation to Georgia, and Maia Gedevanishvili, Head of Child Rights Center in the Office of Public Defender of Georgia.
This EU-funded project aimed to equip Georgian schools with better instruments to protect children from violence and was implemented by the Public Health Foundation of Georgia in partnership with Defense for Children International Netherlands (DCI-ECPAT NL) and Children Support Center Lithuania (PVC).
During the project, an educational program “I am learning, thinking and acting – child protection and safety lessons” was elaborated, along with a child protection policy and procedures for schools. The Educational program and procedures were piloted in three partner schools.
Children, also their parents contributed greatly to the educational program and child protection policy and procedures. The project has important local partners and supporters: Tbilisi Public School #123, Batumi Public School #2, Batumi private school “Gorda”, Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions, Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Adjara Autonomous Republic, Social Service Agency and its Adjara branch, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.
