Talking about Safety – for children and parents

We want to protect the child from possible harm, bring-up her/him to be wise and self-confident.

Starting personal safety education from an early age is vital, necessary and possible. There are different ways of teaching - learning through play, during conversations, fun activities, walks, bath time or bedtime stories. One of the best ways to do this is to read books together, especially books that are age-appropriate and teach safety.

This book is designed for parents and caregivers of 2 to 5 year olds. It provides easy-to-digest tips based on decades of research to help you feel free to talk to your child about personal safety. Use them to boost your confidence and attitude, which is essential when talking about safety with children. Start talking openly about personal safety. Properly and well-informed children are rarely targeted by criminals.

The guide is prepared by the Public Health Foundation of Georgia, within the framework of the project: "Childhood without violence - Synergies to break the cycle of violence and delinquency involving children and rehabilitate its victims”, which is being implemented in partnership with International Catholic Child Bureau – BICE. The project is funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and International Aid Foundation.
