Your Health is Your Right!






The Public Health Foundation of Georgia, in the framework of the  EU-funded project "Promotion of a human right to health of the conflict-affected populations in Georgia" and as a part of project’s awareness raising campaign has produced  a video in Georgian and Abkhazian languages on the protection of a fundamental human right to health.

 

The right to health is a universal right for everyone regardless of their nationality, race, ethnicity, age, sex or social status.

 

The state is obliged to create all possible conditions to protect, respect and fulfill human’s right to health. Every person has the right to receive medical services, which are recognized and available in the country.

In order to protect everyone’s right to health, health services shall be:

a)  Available – healthcare facilities; trained medical and professional personnel; essential medicines; safe and quality treatment have to be available in sufficient quantity;

b)  Accessible – health facilities, goods and services have to be accessible to everyone equally – physically and financially;

c)  Acceptable - all health facilities, goods and services must be acceptable for all, regardless of their religion or belief, national, ethnic or social affiliation, or social status;

d) Of a good Quality – all health facilities, goods and services must also be scientifically and medically appropriate and of good quality; respect confidentiality, be non-discriminatory and informative.

The right of a citizen of Georgia to affordable and quality health care services is guaranteed by law - Article 28 of the Constitution of Georgia. Health care of the citizens is administered by the “Law of Georgia on Health Care” and the “Law of Georgia on Patient Rights”.

 

Quality health care is your right, your health is your right!

 

 

The video is produced with the assistance of the European Union in the framework of the project "Promotion of a human right to health of the conflict-affected populations in Georgia".  The project is implemented by the Public Health Foundation of Georgia (PHF) in partnership with the Georgia Committee on Relief (GEOCOR)   and the Association of Peaceful and Business Caucasus (APBC).
